A Letter to My Mother
My dearest Mum,
There are no words in any language eloquent enough to capture what you mean to me - and yet I find myself reaching for them, again and again, because some truths deserve to be said out loud.
You have been my first home. Before I understood the world, I understood your warmth. Before I learned how to be brave, I watched you do it quietly, without fanfare, every single day. You carried the weight of so much - of family, of hope, of sacrifice - and you carried it with a grace that I have spent my whole life trying to understand.
I don't think I ever thanked you properly for the late night prayers whispered when you thought no one was listening. For the meals made with love. For the golds you sold for our sake. For the way you always made our home feel like the safest place in the world.
Today is yours. Every candle, every moment of joy, every celebration - it belongs to you. You deserve a thousand birthdays, each one more beautiful than the last.
I love you more than words. More than I'll ever be able to show. But I will spend my life trying.
With all my love,
Your First Son, Micheal ❤️
